11 Things Every Parent Can Do to Feel Less Exhausted
The Every Mom by Lizzie Goodman, June 2021
"10.  Warm up your meals
Ashlie Martin, a licensed acupuncturist and Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner, emphasized eating warm meals - especially at breakfast.  "Over night, our bodies drop in temperature and our digestive energy takes a break.  In order to warm up the digestion and ease into the day, drink some warm lemon water before eating, and make yourself a warm breakfast like oatmeal or scrambled eggs," she said.  This, she explained, will address what TCM termed a "spleen qi deficiency," which is a key player in exhaustion.  Martin suggested three cooked, warm meals each day for a week to see improvements in energy.
11.  Ease up on exercise
If you're feeling exhausted despite a full night's sleep, Martin recommended easing into that call for slowness.  "Listen to your body," she said.  "It may be telling you that rest is best, or perhaps your body will be best served by calmer movement like yoga, meditative walks, qi gong, or even a slow bike ride."

Phenomenal Provider: N. Side Chicago Acupuncturist Ashlie Martin
Tyo Birth Care, August 2016
"Ashlie and I met through the Chicago-Area Homebirth Meet-Up before the birth of her second child. As a doula I was so excited to meet a licensed acupuncturist (L.Ac.) as I've referred clients to seek out their care for a myriad of pregnancy and birth issues.  As a placenta encapsulator I was thrilled to get the professional low-down on what Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is and find out a bit more about how it benefits the postpartum body.  I hope you'll enjoy this interview as much as I do!"  ....                                                                                                                                                                           click link to read more

Postpartum Hair Loss
The Birthing Site, April 2014

"Many moms who have spent the first six months or more of their child's life exclusively breastfeeding can report how exhausted they become, how when they're not feeling well, it actually makes them feel worse when their child drains their breasts--as if the life-force is literally being sucked out of them. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), this is somewhat true, and because of it, moms may feel extra fatigued, lose the hair on the head, and even experience dramatically reduced body weight."  ....
